Thank you all for your contributions and continued support this year.  At a time when we've all repeatedly been asked to give,

I'm overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity.  We're still counting (and still receiving checks) - but we're near

the $9,000.00 mark - making our grand total for the past 3 events close to $30,000.00.  Wow!

Deb Belfatto from the Komen North Jersey Affiliate gave us an alarming statistic on Friday night.  Every 3 minutes a

woman is diagnosed with breast cancer.   Thank you again for helping in the search for a cure.   See you next year.

Songs for the Cause was founded after NJ songwriter Deb Ferrara experienced the unexpected. Her sister, Lynn, was diagnosed with breast cancer and lost her 3-year battle to the disease in November 2000. Deb spent endless hours researching for information and answers when she came across the Susan G. Komen Foundation web site. She will never forget the impact of the story she read about the promise made between two sisters. Nancy Brinker, the co-founder of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, made a promise to her sister, Suzy, that she would do everything possible to bring an end to breast cancer. "A sister doing for a sister." Needless to say, it stuck with Deb.

Songs for the Cause is a benefit concert to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. It is a true labor of love that Deb has dedicated to keep her sister's memory forever in her heart and to do her part in assisting with the Komen mission, the "Power of a Promise" to end breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.

Benefiting the Komen North Jersey Affiliate, the concert has already raised over $20,000.00 through ticket sales, sponsor ads and celebrity auction items.  Now in its third year, Songs for the Cause is gearing up for 2005 with a tremendous concert lineup and silent auction featuring autographed items from Norah Jones, Melissa Etheridge, George Thorogood, Bonnie Raitt, Gavin DeGraw, Carole King, Pink, Maroon 5,  Bon Jovi, Beyonce and more.
